Ok I realize that this has nothing to do with my kids but I just had to post about this movie. :P
I saw the worst movie ever made last night...blah. I got talked into seeing a midnight showing of New Moon. I don't like the books they are terribly written and the actors for the movie are also terrible so I wasn't interested in shelling out 8 bucks to see the movie. However, I hardly ever get to hang out with Branden so since she invited me to come to this movie with her, Julie M. (and a bunch of other people I had never met) I decided to go so I could just hang out with her. It's so weird how many seemingly intelligent people...scratch that not people...women... are totally addicted to these badly written characters, we went with a whole group of adult women who were swooning over Edward (Robert Pattinson--ewwww) and Jacob (Taylor someone or other--ok he's better looking but ick he's 17).
Thank goodness the movie was only a topic of conversation after the movie, so dinner before hand was probably the best part of the evening. I really enjoyed talking with Branden, Julie and a woman named Sybil she was from Germany and had the nose stud I want, just a tiny little diamond chip...anyway and her friend Karen?? That's who was at our table for dinner. The conversation was funny and flowed really well, especially since no one really knew everyone at the table. I think we stayed at Chili's for about 2 hours. That was really fun.
Now for the movie. I'm not a big fan of midnight showings, I've never actually seen the point, I mean it's not like the movie will be different at a matinee 3 days later. Even waiting in line to see the re-release of the Star Wars movies was somewhat anti climatic. Not that seeing people dressed up wasn't fun to make fun of, but I guess I just don't get into the whole screaming and super excited stuff, I mean it's just a movie it's not like Harrison Ford was actually there. I mean if he was...now THERE is a reason to see a midnight showing especially if he popped off the silver screen as Han Solo...droool!! Any hooo.... The movie was TERRIBLE!! Rob Pattinson is a terrible actor, he is freaky weird looking, I was relieved when he wasn't in any scenes at all, his "ghost" was creepy and his weird nipple at the end was the clincher that he is just an ugly-guy-who-can't-act-and-I-can't-figure-out-what-all-these-women see-in-him epiphany moment. Kristen...is ok...she plays angst ridden teenager well...I just hate Bella, she is so completely selfish. I only like Alice (whoever acts that part does a great job), Victoria (who is gorgeous in a bad evil vampire sort of way) and Jane (played by Dakota Fanning is superbly acted and very evil creepy and scary)....other than them all the other vampires are just weird. I hate that you can tell their eyes are just contacts and Edward's super pasty look is icky, Jasper needs a haircut and new dye job and less creepy expressions and all the others are just meh. Jacob is well played by Taylor and I really liked him. I honestly hated when Edward kept popping up it was like bring back the real looking person please. All the women were lusting after Jacob and while I can appreciate a nice set of abs and a sculpted back...but comeon now he's half my age that is icky, honestly only Demi Moore could get away with that without getting stoned by the population at large. I thought the wolves could have been animated a little less awkwardly...I liked those parts and watching the vampire fights...those were cool, especially when Edward was getting his backside handed to him by the 3 creepy very off/odd...just not right vampires in Italy. I mean vampire 1 on the left I think he's a little touched in the head and probably rides the short bus to the evil vampire sanctuary; vampire 2 who is that creepy guy he's bizarre?; and vampire 3 sooo did he just not talk and sit there because he stutters, can't speak english, had his tongue cut out, he was just decoration...what??? tell me... ok moving on...
But wow!! the movie was too angsty just like the book and you'd think after over 100 years Edward would have stopped acting like a weird teenager and quite honestly guys DO NOT really get that moody and wax quite so eloquently although most teenagers could probably act slightly better than Rob so I guess it's a wash. :P
I was probably the only person in the whole group who didn't like the movie, so I was hardly a chatty cathy afterward, plus it was 3 am and I was like awww crap I've gotta get up in the morning...boo hoo. Anyway after 3 hours max sleep I still must conclude that that was probably the worst movie I have ever seen and it is worthy of a MST3K production...now THAT I'd be happy to pay for and watch at midnight at least I'd be cracking up the whole time. Let the stoning by Twilight fans begin. :P
For those that don't know what MST3K is. Mystery Science Theater 3000. It's a TV show that takes old monster movies or sci fi movies and sits three hecklers down in the "audience" that makes fun of the whole movie. It is absolutely hilarious. Go look it up on YouTube sometime. I recommend the highlights to Action Pants and the Mexican wrestler. Those are particularly funny.
ReplyDeleteHere are some clips of the show if you are at all interested. It cracks me up. If you want to get the actual MST3K movie, I'd recommend that too.
